AmaZulu Community Trust & Defy send boys to school
As millions of scholars reported to school this week, a milestone was achieved by the AmaZulu Community Trust and Defy as two youngsters were awarded bursaries at Northwood Boys, Durban North.
The two youngsters Sbusiso Magaqa and Sduduzo Nxumalo, who were beaming with excitement upon meeting their new headmaster and schoolmates, received a warm welcome.
School Principal, Mr Paul McAvoy, said of the duo: “We’re very excited that AmaZulu approached us for this program.
“Hopefully this will open up more opportunities for the young boys because Northwood has rich history of producing sports stars, with Neil Tovey being one of them,” said Mr McAvoy.
The AmaZulu Community Trust Programs Manager, Mpho Dintwa, said the two youngsters will also be supplied with books and tuition material for the whole year as well as accommodation at the school.
Magaqa (13) and Grade 8 pupil Sduduzo was currently involved in the AmaZulu U13 side while Nxumalo (15) was with the U15s.
“There will be more youngsters coming into the program in the near future from the different regions where we’re involved with the Defy Community Development Program.
“We’re glad that Northwood Boys were willing to partner with us in this program. It’s high time youngsters with potential be given the best of both education and training towards becoming well-equipped professionals in future,” said Dintwa.
