Top school talent in Hammarsdale
The Rainbow Chicken School’s Challenge makes a return this weekend as the Hammarsdale community gears up to enjoy the best of school football. Mpumalanga Stadium will host nine schools including defending champions Gabi Gabi High School who beat Sikhethuxolo High School to win the competition last year. The ultimate champions stand to win R10 000 in prize money. According to AmaZulu Community Trust Programs Manager, Mpho Dintwa, entrance to the grounds will be free on both Friday and Saturday, 23 and 24 May.
“We’re glad to bring yet another opportunity to the community, in partnership with Rainbow Chickens. The youngsters will do what they enjoy best, playing football in front of a hopefully packed venue.
“Obviously it started from the coaching clinics and social awareness that the program teaches ahead of the competition we’re having now,” said Dintwa.
The runners up will receive a R2500 while there are also individual awards for the Player of the Tournament as well as Top Goal Scorer of the Tournament.
The player of the tournament will also be offered a trial at AmaZulu feeder team Durban Warriors who play in the ABC Motsepe League.
