Usuthu stars inspire Thornwood Secondary
18 February 2013
On Friday the AmaZulu Community Trust presented Adidas sponsored soccer boots to 20 children who had been playing barefoot at a Pinetown-based school coaching clinic.
The youngsters were inspired by AmaZulu’s first team players, Kagiso Senamela and Dumisani Zwane, who sacrificed a few minutes of their training time to share a moment with them.
“It is a good thing that they focus on their school work and also stay active in sport. You can’t go wrong with the two together,” said AmaZulu midfielder Dumisani Zwane.
General Manager Peter O’Connor applauded the new found dedication that the school teachers have shown in trying to overturn the school’s tainted reputation.
The Thornwood Secondary High School pupils cheered for their peers who will no longer play barefoot when their school sport calendar starts this year.
The clinics held in January were conducted by AmaZulu youth talent coaches Ronnie Moroka (Head of Development) and Joel Faya (Chief Scout) in the company of Usuthu Supporter Coordinator, Hazel Makhanya.
