AmaZulu wish Nelson Mandela Happy Birthday
AmaZulu coupled their birthday wishes to Madiba with doing their bit for 67 minutes with painting & planting of trees at Umbumbulo’s, Duze Primary School on Thursday, 18 July 2013.
The KZN government pioneered community initiative was led by KZN Premier, Dr Zweli Mkhize, Mayor of Ethekwini, Cllr James Nxumalo and MEC of Cogta, Ms Nomusa Dube.
It was done specifically to coincide with the much-awaited Nelson Mandela Football Invitational Friendly, scheduled to take place on Thursday, at Moses Mabhida Stadium between AmaZulu and Manchester City.
“We actually also believe that some of the kids here today will grow onto becoming well known football players perhaps for the likes of Man City and AmaZulu one day. In the spirit of Madiba we love you and he loves you too,” said Dr Mkhize.
Usuthu players Willem Mwedihanga, Philani Cele and new signings Mfundo Nsele and Chris Manoka got down and dirty in helping the painting and planting of trees with some of the municipal officials.
AmaZulu staffers led by General Manager, Peter O’Connor, AmaZulu Community Trust Mpho Dintwa and PR & Comms Manager Philani Mabaso as well as Manchester City officials, also did their bit to help.
